EU Rejected Farmers Suggestion !

European Parliament MPs recently voted on a suggestion from farmers to ban plant-based products from using terms such as steak, sausage or burgers.

European Farmers claimed that words like vegan burgers or vegan hot dogs for products that are not real meat could mislead buyers. However, clinical meetings, worldly individuals and organizations that led to the emergence of vegan elements said banning these terms would prevent customers from switching to more plant-based diets, sabotaging the EU's ecological and well-being goals.

Parliament rejects farmers' request to ban plant-based products from using terms like steak, sausage or burger. The European Court of Justice also restricted terms like "soy milk" and "vegetarian cheddar" three years ago and decided that words like milk, cream, cheddar and yogurt cannot be used for non-dairy products.
